Digital Commonwealth – get involved
The University of the West of Scotland, Ayr Campus is playing host to the first Digital Commonwealth “Community Media Cafe” offering local people and community groups the chance to get an introduction to mobile podcasting, audio storytelling and citizen journalism around the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. The cafe will be lead by project coordinator Jennifer Jones and audio expert Bronwen Livingstone,
Community media cafes will be hosted in Ayrshire (as part of 4 community media clusters across Scotland) between October and December 2013, inviting local groups and community agencies to meet with those who are doing interesting things in the field of community media to give them a chance to test out free mobile audio and video tools or to try out using social media for developing their community stories.
It is a free workshop and everyone is welcome so please join us between 6-8pm at UWS Ayr (within the starbucks area in the Atrium – green seats)
From January 2014 onwards, there will be opportunities to join formal workshops in audio, video, blogging and social media to prepare participants across Scotland to cover the Queen’s Baton Relay when it reaches their community and leave behind a legacy of social reporting using mobile and digital tools.
